NYY NEWS: IT COULD BE A BUSY NEXT WEEK FOR THE YANKEES

MLB | Bryan Hoch: Some items of interest here from MLB’s Yankees beat writer. First, it sounds like Aaron Judge is leading the charge for the Yanks to have an active trade deadline. “We’re a game and a half out of first place in our division, the toughest division in baseball,” the Captain remarked. “So I think upstairs, they’ll do their thing and put us where we need to be.”

More, Hoch digs into some names New York might pursue before the deadline passes, including former Yankees Chad Green and Jameson Taillon.

MLB Trade Rumors | Darragh McDonald: The Yankees and Dodgers are interested in the same free agent pitcher. Stop me if you’ve heard this before. This time, it’s not a young phenom like Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Instead, it’s grizzled veteran Rich Hill. The veteran hurler struggled last year but has been idle thus far in ‘24, with the intent to sign for the stretch run with someone. With Clarke Schmidt injured, Luis Gil racking up innings, and the rotation in general in a putrid seven-week stretch, I guess I’ve heard worse ideas.

The Athletic ($) | Keith Law: Keith Law has his updated top-60 prospects list up. Only one Yankee farmhand makes the list, but he is pretty high up there. Currently injured, Jasson Domínguez just misses the top 10, coming at number 12. Law’s write-up is behind the paywall, but he highlights El Marciano’s reduced strikeout rate and impressive power in his brief stint at Triple-A thus far in ‘24.
