GEORGIA LOSING FORMER TOP COLLEGE FOOTBALL RECRUIT TO TRANSFER PORTAL

The Georgia Bulldogs are losing linebacker Darris Smith to the NCAA Transfer Portal, he announced on social media.

A sophomore, Smith has only played in 16 games with the Bulldogs over two seasons. He's played in a reserve role.

Smith was a four-star recruit in the class of 2022 out of Appling County High School in Baxley, Georgia. 247Sports had him ranked as the No. 146 overall recruit in his class.

He ranked even higher, No. 117, in the On3 recruiting rankings.

Monday, Dec. 4 is the day that the transfer portal will officially open, so he still has time to change his mind before officially entering his name. The portal closes on Jan. 2, but for teams in the College Football Playoff, they'll have a five day extension from when their season ends.
