U.S. WOMEN'S OLYMPICS TEAM SENDS CLEAR MESSAGE TO CAITLIN CLARK

Caitlin Clark hasn't started her WNBA career just yet, but she's already looking for the next challenge.

The women's roster for the Olympics in Paris won't be announced until June 1 - which gives Clark some time for her goal: making the women's 5 vs. 5 team. Selection committee chair Jennifer Rizzotti made it clear she'll be watching Clark closely to see if she's ready to make the Olympics.

“You always want to introduce new players into the pool whether it’s for now or the future,” Rizzotti told The Associated Press. “We stick to our principles of talent, obviously, positional fit, loyalty and experience. It’s got to be a combination of an entire body of work. It’s still not going to be fair to some people.”

The former Iowa Hawkeyes star was initially invited to Team USA training camp, but was a bit busy leading her team to a national title game.

Clark made it clear she wants to be part of the five-on-five team after it was rumored she might be a candidate for the three-on-three team when the Paris Olympics kick off.

“It’s where I want to be,” Clark told the AP last week. “Three-on-three is really cool, I’ve just never done it. But 5-on-5 is the goal and the dream. To play with the best in the world and against the best in the world, you can’t script it better than that.”

If she makes the team, she'll likely join others Team USA players in July.
